Vibration monitoring systems for industrial repair and maintenance activities

Balancing is carried out for technically sound mechanisms, securely fixed in their designated positions. Otherwise, before balancing, the mechanism must be repaired, installed in proper bearings, and securely fastened. The rotor of the mechanism should be cleaned from contaminants that hinder balancing.

Prior to measurements, the installation locations are chosen, and vibration and phase sensors are placed according to the recommendations provided above.

Before balancing, it is recommended to perform measurements in vibrometer mode.

If the total vibration value V1s(V2s) approximately matches the rotational component value V1o(V2o), it can be assumed that the imbalance of the rotor is the main contributor to the mechanism's vibration. If the total vibration value V1s(V2s) significantly exceeds the rotational component value V1o(V2o), it is recommended to inspect the mechanism - check the condition of the bearings, the reliability of the foundation mounting, ensure the rotor does not collide with stationary parts during rotation, and consider the influence of vibrations from other mechanisms, etc. Here, studying the graphs of the time function and vibration spectrum obtained during measurement in "Graphs-Spectral Analysis" mode can be useful.

It is recommended that before balancing using the device, ensure the absence of a significant static imbalance. For rotors with a horizontal axis, manually rotate the rotor by 90 degrees from the current position. If the rotor is statically unbalanced, it will rotate to the equilibrium position. Once the rotor reaches the equilibrium position, place the balancing weight at the top, approximately in the middle part of the rotor's length. The weight should be selected so that the rotor remains stationary in any position. Such preliminary balancing will help reduce vibration levels during initial start-ups of highly unbalanced rotors.
